The Loftus Versfeld stadium is situated 5 km from the Tshwane (Pretoria) city centre. This stadium is proposed for the first and second round matches of the Soccer World Cup 2010. Loftus is the home ground of the Sundowns Football Club, one of South Africa's premiere professional clubs. Since 1977, Loftus Versfeldhas undergone many renovations.The stadium had a capacity of 45,000 and has been upgraded to 50,000 for the World Cup 2010. The stadium has undergone minimal renovations to qualify it as a venue for firts and second round matches. To meet FIFA requirements for World Cup 2010 the floodlights, sound system and scoreboard has been upgraded.
