Brazil packed Italy PDF   E-mail

World champions Italy is out of the Confederations cup with a defeat to Brazil in their last match with Brazil. Brazil scored three goals just before the half time to earn a 3-0 victory on Sunday. By winning all matches Brazil is on top of Group B and will meet South Africa in semi-final in Johannesburg on Thursday. In the other semi-final  United States will meet Spain on Wednesday.

Luis Fabiano scored two goals in 37 and 43 minutes and Andrea Dossena scored one goal just before the interval.

Brazil eased off in the second half as Italy looked for the goal that would have prevented their exit, but Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar made fine saves to thwart them.

The defeat completed a miserable tournament for Marcello Lippi's men who were also beaten by Egypt and finished in third place.
Marcelo Lippi's side finished third in Group B, level on points with the US - and Egypt - but with an inferior number of goals scored, meaning they return home while Bob Bradley's side continue their pursuit of glory against Spain.
