USA to face Algeria PDF   E-mail
Pretoria - The United States national team will face-off against the Algerians this afternoon at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane.

To advance to the next stage of the World Cup, Bob Bradley's players need a win against Algeria who got one point after an entertaining 0-0 draw with group C favourites, England.

The North African team lost its opening match 1-nil to Slovenia.

The USA is in group C along with Algeria, England and Slovenia.

All teams have played two matches with Slovenia topping the group with four points, while both the USA and England have two points. Algeria is at the bottom of the group with one point.

The huge difference of the two teams is that the USA have conceded and scored three goals, while Algeria have not goal.

Algeria are appearing at the FIFA World Cup for the third time after they qualification in both the 1982 and 1986 respectively, while the USA will be making their ninth appearance.

If the USA manages to collect maximum points over Algeria in their final group stage match, they will progress to the last 16.

However, if the Americans draw against the Africans, they will move to the next round only if Slovenia can beat England.

They USA will need England and Slovenia to draw or for England to finish with fewer goals.

If the Algerians and the USA draw and England defeat Slovenia, they USA will be eliminated from the tournament. -BuaNews
